Finance & Facilities Subcommittee
News and Information
The BEST Finance & Facilities Subcommittee is reviewing several options for potentially consolidating operations in ways that both meet educational goals and achieve greater financial efficiency. Among the concepts being explored are combining all 6th grade students into an expanded Mohawk Middle School and consolidating elementary grades into a smaller number of locations, perhaps while keeping lower elementary grades (various combinations of pre-K, K and Grades 1-2) in local schools.
We also have looked at other options, including combining all elementary students into a new facility to be constructed on the Mohawk campus or transforming BSE into true Middle School for grades 6-8. However, our initial analysis has led us to the conclusion that these latter two options are unworkable, and we do not expect to look further into these ideas. We are now doing the next level of financial analysis on options that appear most promising.
